Pathetic
Pathetic
By Jean Roy
Laying by the phone,
hoping that you’d text or call
makes me pathetic.

Dipped Fingers Of Virginity
Dipped Fingers Of Virginity
By Jean Roy
You’ve dipped your fingers
into my warm flesh, causing
moans and convulsions.
Put your fingers to your lips
and tell me how my dreams taste.

Trying Sometimes Isn’t Even Worth It
Trying Sometimes Isn’t Even Worth It
By Jean Roy
I’ve tried to hammer you out
of every memory that you’ve engraved yourself in,
but you stubbornly stay in the warmth
that I still pretend remains, despite your absence.

Hope, Breeding Eternal Misery
Hope, Breeding Eternal Misery
By Jean Roy
I hope you drown yourself in tequila shots,
whenever you remember my face.
I hope I haunt you like you haunt me
for those past lonely twenty eight days.
(…Since you left.)
I hope you can’t find any comfort
while laying in your bed
and that the pillow is too cold
to allow you to rest.
I hope it burns that icy heart of yours
even its for a little while.
I hope it kills your ego, however big it is now,
from remembering all the times I tried to make you smile.
I hope you shed a tear
from that beautiful face,
and I hope you feel as alone as I do
without me in your life taking up space.
I hope one day it hurts you
to know how I loved you hard,
but until then I’ll keep hoping away
the undying love for you that’s still beating inside my heart.

Broken Hearted Banker
Broken Hearted Banker
By Jean Roy
I paid far too much
to not receive the love you gave her freely.
I naively gave myself to you completely,
but you continued to feed me
beautiful lies of a love that was misleading.
Yet I never learned my lesson,
I continued to trust you without any exceptions.
I ended up with no answers only questions
ending up with a broken heart and no hope, after all the love I invested.

…Better Left Unsaid

They say some things
are better left unsaid.
But unuttered promises
have a way of playing with your head.

So Small
So Small
By Jean Roy
She carried a part of earth
despite how small the grains of sand were.
He carried her heart in his back pocket
along with his Marlboro reds,
even if he despised broken things
he couldn’t set on fire.

Pretending
Pretending
By Jean Roy
I’m loving you
with both eyes closed.
I can see that you’re hurting me
but my heart pretends like it doesn’t know.

Pushed Away
Pushed Away

You push me away
and it hurts like hell because
I love you more than
I could ever possibly
attempt at loving myself.

Foolish Thinking
Foolish Thinking
By Jean Roy
We foolishly think
that if we lie about it long enough,
maybe the pain will evaporate
and we’ll turn into the happy person
we have been pretending to be all along.

if that would help
stop your tears and ease your hurts.
