A Hug From My Mother
A Hug From My Mother
By Jean Roy
I never got to experience a home instead of a house,
or bask in the warm feeling of hearing the words I love you come out of her mouth.
I never got the chance to thank her for the sacrifice she made for my life,
and explain to her how difficult it is to not have her by my side.
I was never granted the ability to cry on her shoulder,
or have awkward talks about girls with her as I grew older.
She died before having a chance to meet her only son
and it pains me everyday knowing I never got the chance to hug my mother once.
